Spring in the Environmental Classroom

Poble-sec. From February to June, the Environmental Classroom is offering a series of activities to promote the culture of sustainability and care for the environment in the neighbourhood, including talks, workshops for the entire family and exchange markets.

From February to June, the Environmental Classroom of Poble-sec is offering a series of activities to promote the culture of sustainability and care for the environment in the neighbourhood, including talks, workshops for the entire family and exchange markets.

To highlight the importance of having access to healthy, sustainable food, the first Food Sovereignty Festival will be held in Poble-sec in May. The classroom is also engaging with nature with a series of two workshops devoted to permaculture and a range of activities on Montjuïc.

Visit A huge vegetable garden on Montjuïc (XEAB)
Crops and animals coexist in the 11,000 m2 garden of Can Mestres. In this visit we will better understand organic farming and the strategies used to control pests without chemicals. In addition to the neighbors who look after the plots, this garden is inhabited by goats, geese, chickens and other small animals. As part of the International Day of Biological Diversity (May 22). Registration needed (free).

The Environmental Classroom of Poble-sec is an initiative promoted by Som La Clau, Cooperasec and the Poble-sec Community Plan with the support of the Public Health Agency and the Barcelona City Council (Sants-Montjuïc District).
