The fifteen young people who completed their university studies in 2023 thanks to Prometeus were the third group to graduate with the programme, in a ceremony in the Saló de Cent chamber at the City Hall. Promoted by the Neighbourhood Plan in collaboration with Barcelona Ciència i Universitats, Prometeus offers personalised support to help students at secondary schools in neighbourhoods with lower-than-average rates of students reaching university, enabling users to successfully get through higher studies regardless of social and economic factors.
Prometeus starts with talks on motivation secondary school and continues beyond university graduation, providing support for access to the world of work. In the transition to university, the programme helps students with enrolment and applications for public grants.
While they are studying, students get financial help for occasional needs relating to transport, academic support and materials, and get guidance in collaboration with universities so that they can successfully complete their university studies.
Since its launch in 2016, Prometeus has helped a total of 300 students, 220 of them pursuing university studies and 80 taking higher education courses as a prelude to university.
